I hold one of these, a life insurance policy. I purchased it about 4 years ago when I was getting my life in order. When you apply for these you go through a medical routine to make sure you have no "serious" conditions. I didn't have "serious" conditions but the cost to own one went up because I was so overweight. I remember thinking at the time that this was my life and I now am paying extra because of the choices I made. But the part that gets me is that it took me another 4 years to realize it's time to do something about it. A few weeks ago I met with my insurance guy to talk about reducing my cost etc. He said actually losing weight and being in X category will bring your insurance cost way down. The amount he told me that I'd save blew me away. Because of changing my lifestyle and weight I could see a savings. WHY did I wait so long?
More and more we read about people who are overweight paying for extra things, extra seat on the airplane, extra seat on a bus....it's a trend. But it's not a trend that I want to have in my life. Not only is this changing my lifestyle for my health, my daughter, but it's also changing it so that I can save money. In this day saving money is so important. So I press on to the goal....
